Edinburgh Yarn Festival has outgrown its favourite events venue, the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. They desperately did not want to have to look for a new venue with more capacity, so they started talking to Purvis Marquees about the option to expand into the car park of the site.

Edinburgh Corn Exchange supported their client through every step of the process, and an extensive layout was agreed for this popular festival.

The main marquee was based on a 20m x 40m marquee erected on a concrete surface, so water ballast tanks were used to weigh the marquee down. The internal finishes included flat ivory linings, black chandeliers, a click flooring system, unique carpet colours, glass entrances and fire escapes, full production and stage lighting, festoon lighting down the marquee roof, large dance area, complete heating system and a pagoda style entrance canopy connecting the main marquee to the existing venue buildings.

Purvis Marquees managed all of the sub-contractors and suppliers to provide a significant venue extension, working closely with the venue and the council, ensuring that there was minimal disruption to other parts of the venue and a safe build of the event in a compact area.

Everyone attending the festival loved the additional space and the feel of the whole venue, and it allowed the Edinburgh Yarn Festival to provide their guests with extra space and experiences which helped increase the success of a much-loved annual event.
