CASE STUDY
BRIDGE OF WEIR LEATHER
Situation
Bridge of Weir Leather was looking for a marquee company to supply the presentation ceremony for their very prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade. They did not want just any old marquee for their event but something with the WOW factor.
Task
We were asked to come up with a design that would as much as possible replicate the Royal Marquee used at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The marquee would be built directly in front of their factory reception and initially would need to accommodate 200 guests.
Action
The bespoke marquee that Purvis Marquees specialise in was adapted using a large 10m peaked roof, double hip ends, glazed doors and panoramic window walls. A suspended floor was built around the pathway lights with interior linings, stage extension, catering extension and an entrance pagoda, therefore, bringing everything together as one complete structure.
Result
The event was a huge success and with high-end leather products and cars on display, the whole feel of the event complemented the fantastic work that this prestigious Scottish company provide to the automotive industry.
It all went tremendously well in the end, weather or no weather! We wanted a marquee that would make an impression and that is certainly what we got. I can’t thank you enough for your patience as the requirements changed again and again, and for going above and beyond to meet them. The event wouldn’t have been the success it was without you and your team.

Bridge of Weir Leather Company was on the hunt for a marquee company to supply their presentation ceremony for their very prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade. They did not want just any old standard marquee but something special, unique and complimented their luxury brand. The aim was to give everyone invited the WOW factor.
We were asked if we could come up with a design that would replicate, as much as possible, the Royal Marquee used at the Palace of Holyrood House and erect it directly in front of the factory reception. The capacity started off based on 200 guests, but days before the build was due to begin this increased to 300, meaning some last minute changes were made to the structures and layout.
The final design was based on the following. A 10m x 10m frame complete with a large 10m peaked roof, double 5m hip-ends, glazed door units, panoramic window walls, suspended flooring throughout with the flooring adapted and infilled around the pathway lighting to create a feature. Interior pleated linings provided an elegant finish with the addition of Bruce Tartan leg drapes creating a Scottish flare. Pagodas were added to the main marquee to compensate for poor weather conditions. Additional areas were created these being an extra catering section and entrance pagoda all neatly joined to the main structure.
Our Management Team also helped to organise and coordinate all of the power, PA, and event branding with the help of trusted subcontractors, making sure that our client was supported through their first experience organising an event of this type.
Throughout the build, there was a Project Manager on site involved in all aspects of the installation, finishes, health & safety. This continued into the day of the event with the carpets being hoovered, and small highlight details being added that morning with leather bunting, ratchet strap covers and beautiful leather table centres created by the client’s design team.
Overall the finish was first class, with the bespoke marquee helping to showcase Scotland’s finest leather products, providing a grand stage for the Queens Awards.
This was a very important client for Purvis Marquees especially with our historic connection to Concours of Elegance and the luxury car market. Our Royal Warrant also meant that Bridge of Weir Leather was given added comfort that they were dealing with a supplier that was highly invested in their brand. Knowing we provide great attention to detail, with the focus and dedication to ensure everything happens when it should and overcome any hurdle an event can throw at you.
CLIENT FEEDBACK
Hi James,
I have just about recovered from my first big event. Incidentally, so has our grass – it’s as if the event never happened!
