Genie Events – The Macallan

Situation

Genie Events were looking for an event contractor to work with them on an extraordinary event at the Macallan Distillery, for the launch of their spectacular new distillation facility and visitor center.

Task

Provide a unique enchanted forest experience and light show to international guests.

Action

Design and deliver a leveled 20-meter x 25-meter marquee with open balcony with a clear roof. A large catering facility, delivery ramp, blackout interiors, 114m walkway and other surrounding structures.

Result

A once in a lifetime Scottish experience for the guests that they would never forget.

Purvis Marquees were contacted by Genie Events who were looking for an event contractor to work with them on an extraordinary event at the Macallan Distillery, for the launch of their spectacular new distillation facility and visitor centre in the beautiful Scottish countryside of Charlestown of Aberlour.

Purvis Marquees management team worked very closely with Genie Events to build an experience that the International guests invited to the opening event would never forget!

The primary structures were designed and installed on a scaffolding understructure, to level off the sloping grounds. In addition, there was an adjoining large-scale catering facility, delivery ramp, balcony canopy with a transparent roof, 114m blackout walkway, a vast array of internal bespoke finishes and supporting structures. Over the week leading up to the event, the experience grew until it was transformed into an enchanted oak forest. Guests were presented with a vast wall of greenery, and in the centre, a small hobbit door which led them up a rock clad tunnel and into the central dining area, what awaited them certainly had the ‘WOW’ factor. Not a single part of the surrounding structures could be seen, just elegance, mystery and enchantment!

Genie Events needed us to build and dismantle everything in a very tight timescale to reduce disruption to the existing facilities and with great care to the grounds. Everything went smoothly with the Genie Events management team and client very impressed with the efficient organisation of site work and our safety mindset.

We were extremely proud to be involved in an event so close to our Scottish routes, and a brand as well-known and respected as ‘The Macallan’. Genie Events lived up to their renowned reputation for events of this scale, providing everyone with a once in a lifetime experience supported by dedicated and passionate contractors like Purvis Marquees to support them every step of the way.

From the drinks reception to the oak forest, the dining experience, the sonnet Lumiere on Easter Elchies House, the light show on the distillery, the band, the stills light show, and everything else.
